Today I met with the short-term/bridge counselor.  It was mostly an intake appointment but she was really nice and I was able to talk about all the recent transitions with therapists lately which helped me feel less anxious.  I’ll meet with her every two weeks for now.  I feel better about having something vs nothing in place.

I told the counselor that I felt uneasy because the therapist who hasn’t been returning my texts received case notes from the therapist that just left.  I don’t like that a person who isn’t going to be treating me has access to some of my trauma history and I’d really like those notes deleted/shredded.  The counselor suggested I contact my psychiatrist, who is in the same practice so that those case notes can be properly destroyed.  I want to do this, but I feel like I’d just be bothering one more person in that practice.

I’ve been with that psychiatrist for maybe 7or 8 years and I really like her.  I feel like maybe I could ask her to help with this but I’m not positive.  I have a med management appt with her on 10/25 so I could wait until then I guess.

  1. Lauren,

Thank you for the update! It is wonderful that you were able to get a new therapist! It is understandable to be nervous about someone you do not know having access to your personal information. I think that the advice your counselor gave you could be a good route to make sure someone you trust takes care of the documents. If you feel like you can wait until your next appointment, that is great! If it is going to bother you until then though, it could be worth reaching out before then. Thank you again for the update, and please feel free to reach out to us at 866-728-7893 if you need extra support!
