I like to go out into nature to just be alone to reset my internal clock. Sometimes I run/hike through the wooded trails with my trusty earbuds, sometimes I go to a good lookout point and just sit with an iced coffee and/or a notebook to journal / write. (I always dreamed I was a poet in another life). I really love to watch the sky and water move and change, it’s very relaxing to me.
I find doing some of these things really helps me to connect with myself and find peace and a sense of calmness.

For me, it’s taking a road trip. I’m from Wisconsin, and last summer I made a totally spontaneous decision to drive out to Pittsburgh to see the Pirates play our Milwaukee Brewers (it’s fun to root for the visiting team and be ribbed by the fans).
Then I stayed at a cheap motel, got some rest, and made the 8-hour trip back. Listening to my favorite channel on satellite radio while driving and taking in all the sights really cleanses my mind and gives me (admittedly) an escape from everything that is on my mind. I hope to do it again soon!
@mattyblast That is such a nice experience! I am happy to hear you got to take a restful yet enjoyable trip on your own, sometimes we really do need some time away to ourselves! It is almost as if taking ourselves out of our regular environments can provide us with clarity. What was your favorite channel you listened to on the way home?
@mattyblast That is a great idea! I did that when the Saints came to my town once ( I am a Saints fan not living in NOLA, but I wish I was) One day I want to go to NOLA to see a game too. No one else likes them so I will probably go alone and have a BLAST! Did you make any stops on the way there or home?
