I never heard back from the therapist who said she’d send me appointment times in a couple of hours. I think she probably doesn’t want to take me on as a patient and just isn’t saying that directly. I would prefer that she just say it clearly though instead of me just wondering.
It’s discouraging to have one therapist who wanted me to be his friend and daughter even though he knew everything about me and I knew nothing about him and a therapist who left and a therapist who isn’t clear.
I went to the drop in mental health center because I’m feeling dissociative again and I don’t want to go inpatient again if I can help it and they set me up with a short term counselor. I think I’m lucky that there’s even a drop in center in my city, but I feel like I can’t trust anyone right now. I have a virtual appointment with the short term counselor tomorrow so I’ll try to be open minded. I forget how long the short term counseling can last – either 6 weeks or 6 months but hopefully it’s enough until I find a long term therapist.
I like the drop in center and I’m glad they are open again. For a while they were closed because of Covid. I still have to be careful because I’m immunocompromised but I’ll ask my immunologist about going back to support groups there.

Good evening Lauren
I can see why that could be discouraging but I am SO GLAD you did not give up on trying to get help and you went to the clinic! That is amazing and shows how strong and determined you are.
It really could be any number of reasons why you have not heard back from her so please be kind to yourself. I think it is more likely she is just plain busy or there is another factor involved. If you ever need resources of any kind you can call us anytime at 866-728-7893 we can try to help you out! Wishing you a great appointment tomorrow!
