I would choose to be friends with Aaron Lightner from the Anne Rice Mayfair Witches series. He was part of a secret organization called, the Talamasca. They studied supernatural people and their powers. He also has some powers of his own. He also sounds like a very nice guy in general who would make a great friend.

There’s a character from Pokemon called Lillie. She’s shy. She’s clumsy. She has family problems. Her best friend is her Pokemon (aka her pet). I see a lot of myself in her.
@justaspekt, I can totally understand wanting to be friends with a character you see a lot of yourself in. It might feel comforting, knowing someone else around you understands how you feel!
